Yes, I do eat sprouts, but they are not a staple food for me.

Lentils are a legume, so like grains it is especially important to cycle them with other varieties. Also, try other sprouts like broccoli sprouts, mung bean sprouts, radish sprouts, kale sprouts, etc.

ned262626 @ 11:50 pm

Matt, i get the impression that you do not eat sprouts. If this is true i am worried because i survive on a diet of sprouted lentil smoothies. So, am i missing something?

barkenny @ 11:50 pm

Hey Matt,

I was thinking About a mostly fruit diet. Is there an issue with combining fruits? Say, and apple, banana, and an orange all at once? I'm also very interested to know more about raw honey and how you did it for 8 months without any other food.

If you wish to eat flaxseeds, do so minimally and try only to consume the freshly ground seed (not the oil).

Chia seeds are my preferred choice for omega 3. If you eat fish, I would recommend Vital Choice salmon oil.

aipyor @ 11:50 pm

would you suggest skipping flaxseed all together?then what's a good source of omega 3?

Kary1972 @ 11:50 pm

Sorry Matt i meant Calcium, ( i was born in Argentina, i come from an Italian family, since january i live in Rotterdam and i'm learning Dutch so i mix words!) Calcium supplements. ;-) Kary

RealRawMatt @ 11:50 pm

Thanks, Kary. :)
I'm not sure what you mean by calcio — do you mean cacao or calcium perhaps?

Take care,
Matt

Kary1972 @ 11:50 pm

Matt thanks for this info!
By the way i love the dog that appears in your awesome Extreme Applesauce video, he looks extremely happy eating that apple.
What do you think about calcio?
Dank je from Holland !

nadubarbu @ 11:50 pm

How about hemp milk?
Thanks!

RealRawMatt @ 11:50 pm

Soy has a lot of its own estrogen and can throw off our own hormones if done in excess. The best soy to eat is tempeh because it is fermented, which makes the bean easier to digest and provides you with helpful probiotics. Avoid soy milk entirely — use almond or rice milk instead. Avoid or really limit the processed soy you eat, like soy dogs and soy cheese. There's a lot of fresh fruit and steamed vegetables to eat instead. :)
Take care,
RawMatt

nadubarbu @ 11:50 pm

How mcuh soy is enough but not too much for a vegan, teenage girl?

nadubarbu @ 11:50 pm

That part made me laugh

khalilahinjapan @ 11:50 pm

Hey RawMatt. I am trying calorie restriction now. I am 5'9 and 180 pounds on a now 1400 intake.
I live in Japan so it is so healthy here and it seems a waste to be overweight in this country that is famous for its super foods.

RealRawMatt @ 11:50 pm

Yes, when I prepare oatmeal occasionally I purchase Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free rolled oats (they're easier to digest than steel cut) and cook it 10-15 minutes. I wait until it's cooled down, then I add raw honey and cinnamon.

oishitomoro @ 11:50 pm

do you cook your oatmeal? how do you prepare it?

xxdiogenescynicxx @ 11:50 pm

"They taste like shit anyway so thats fine" LMFAO

fruitsofescapism @ 11:50 pm

lol…ethiopians arent skinny by default. most of the green land and soil in the north produces rich and fresh agricultural superclass wheat etc. You know what they do with it? They sell it to feeding lots in chicago. For mc donalds. true story. Africans arent hungry cuz they dont have food. they starve cuz some cunt makes money off the food by selling to cow-feedlots

RealRawMatt @ 11:50 pm

To answer your other questions…

In the video I say that caloric restriction is the best way to lose weight and reach your natural bodyweight. I also recommend trying dehydrated fruits to feel full on a low calorie intake.

I lived exclusively on unheated, unfiltered honey for 8 months. Honey is a "perfect" and natural food that contains a wide array of vitamins (including vitamin C), minerals, and protein (enzymes), with a medium glycemic index of 50-55. It is not the same as sugar.

Hi ruby,

Oatmeal is great, but like most things, there is a negative in that it is not necessarily gluten-free (those with gluten sensitivity or Celiac may not be able to eat it) and it is a grain. It is necessary to rotate the majority of our foods, and oatmeal also needs to be rotated. I recommend eating oatmeal for 3-4 months out of the year during wintertime, and then rotate out a different breakfast food.

Cinnamon - good choice!

Take care,
RawMatt

RealRawMatt @ 11:50 pm

Hi schazam,

You ask who is right and who to believe. The answer is your own body.

If I tell you not to eat breakfast, but you want to eat breakfast, then do it. Don't listen to me if your body tells you something different. Experiment!

I think we should look to outside guidance from people who embody what we strive to be. That's why aspiring bodybuilders look to pro bodybuilders, or models look to other models for advice, etc.

You can watch my Snake Oil video, too.

Hope that helps,
-RawMatt

schazam04 @ 11:50 pm

so only water ? You differ a lot from David Wolfe. It is so hard to know who to believe because even the raw food gurus do not agree on what to eat. How do I know who is right?
you say you live on Mostly Honey. Were we intended to eat that much sugar?

AMARANTH500 @ 11:50 pm

i'm part Cherokee & my grandfather would ferment the corn first in order to make a corn bread. But personally I do much better off of all grains. It's amazing the difference in my body when I am off all grains ( and dairy of course).

feeeeeebz @ 11:50 pm

cloud hopping flower children! LOL

good video!

rubyspirit2 @ 11:50 pm

I thought on the calorie restriction video you said oatmeal wasn't good. Hmmm, have to listen to it again. I eat oatmeal almost everyday. Even on weekends. Mostly plain, sometime with alittle organic cinnamon sprinkled in it.

pike005 @ 11:50 pm

I agree..I like to observe how and what my body digests the easiest. …when I eat corn (raw of course) it comes out whole;-) lol sorry I know that is TMI but the raw truth
